Some point last year the consumer electronics giant LG released Blu-ray devices to merge with its lg blueray player the BD300. Having previously delivered the BD370, LG continued to enlarge their available new blueray players through the BD390 Network Blu-ray Disc Player. The new player consists of each of the features of it's stablemate the BD370 but adds wireless connectivity and 1GB of built in storage space to the mix.

Reminiscent of the BD370, the BD390 features expanded online content in the form of LG's own NetCast Entertainment Access, that not only delivers access to the NetFlix HD streaming capability first found in the BD300, but adds having access to YouTube and Pay-Per-View Hi def movies through an alliance with CinemaNow. LG says this provides users with access to at least 13,000 titles from the most important movie studios, broadcast and cable television shows, over 250 independent film titles and music videos from all foremost labels - as well as the high number of videos available from YouTube. The inclusion of a USB 2.0 port also ensures that viewing content stored on a USB stick won't be an issue.

Access to all that content makes you wonder whether you'll ever need to put an actual Blu ray disc in your machine. But if you do, you'll find all of the devices will be BD Live capable and add in BonusView technology for picture-in-picture access to individual features. This allows users to simultaneously watch movie scenes and additional bonus features on suitable discs. Ordinary DVDs will be upscaled to 1080p by means of HDMI, while Blu-ray discs will be enjoyed at twenty four or 60 frames per second using Cinema mode. Audio credentials include Dolby True HD/Digital Plus and DTS-HD decoding functions inclusive of surround sound support for upto 7.1 channels.

The major difference between the BD370 and BD390 is the addition of integrated Wi-Fi for Wi-Fi connection to the home network to take advantage of all that on-line content, and also the inclusion of 1GB of built-in memory as such BD-Live content will be accessed without the requirement for a flash drive.

The BD390 network blueray player is available in conjunction with all of LG's further award winning players and the same as many other blu ray players, they are now falling quite rapidly in cost.
